The world of musicAeterna encompasses people, events and phenomena from all cultural areas.
With the TOP10 project, we are asking outstanding artists, stage directors, musicians, scientists, poets and philosophers — all those whose ideas inspire us and grant us the power to create — about their own sources of inspiration.
We ask them about the thoughts dwelling in their own worlds and about the essence that fills those. Our today’s guest is stage director Romeo Castellucci.
Romeo Castellucci is a well-known Italian artist and stage director. In 1981, he founded the Societas Raffaello Sanzio theatre company together with Claudia Castellucci and Chiara Guidi. Since 2011, he has been actively collaborating with the world’s leading opera houses and festivals. Romeo Castellucci has participated in numerous opera and drama productions as an author, stage director, scenographer, lighting designer, and/or costume designer. He has published several books on theatre theory. Castellucci supervised the theatre section at the 2005 Venice Biennale and was one of the artistic directors of the 2008 Avignon Festival. He is a laureate of many awards, including the Venice Biennale Golden Lion. In 2002, he became a Chevalier of the French Ordre des Arts et des Lettres.
