Watch the recording of the concert

musicAeterna and Teodor Currentzis will participate in the “Beethoven — Nine Symphonies, Nine Cities” online tour. Over a single day on June 6, nine orchestras will perform all symphonies by Ludwig van Beethoven in various cities across Europe. The Seventh Symphony, accompanied by a dance performance by Sasha Waltz & Guests, will be performed by musicAeterna.

According to Teodor Currentzis, Symphony No. 7 is distinguished as “the highest form ever reached by symphonies”. He compares its perfection of structure to classical Athenian architecture — the peak of classical architecture where every proportion and every detail nourished spiritual beauty and glorified the city’s patron goddess Athena. The orchestra will perform the Seventh Symphony at the ancient Greek theatre in Delphi.

All nine concerts will be broadcast by ARTE from 13:00 till 22:30 on June 6. After the live broadcast, the concerts will remain online till December 6, 2021.
