Sergey Ponomarev

Sergei Ponomarev is a professional musician notable for his technical virtuosity and unique performing style. With his impressive repertoire, he has vast experience in concert performances both as a soloist and as a member of Russian chamber ensembles and orchestras.

Sergei has completed his assistantship/internship at the Kazan State
Conservatory under professor Sergei Pavlovich Roldugin, artistic director of the Saint Petersburg House of Music.

Sergei Ponomarev is a laureate of numerous competitions, including the 1st prize at “To J.S. Bach’s Birthday” regional competition, Grand Prix at the “Starshine” international competition, the 2nd prize at the Russian string instruments competition, the 3rd prize at the S.I. Taneev 4th International chamber ensemble competition, the 2nd prize at the K.Y. Davydov International competition, and the special prize for the best performance of K.Y. Davydov’s music piece. Sergei is a laureate of the Russian music competition (Moscow, 2018). In 2019, he also became a laureate of the Russian music competition in the “Chamber ensemble”section.

As a soloist, Sergei has performed with such conductors as Leo Krämer, Günther Stegmüller and Fuat Mansurov. He has taken part in master classes by Kirill Rodin, Natalia Shakhovskaya, Stefan Popov, Martti Rousi and Sergei Roldugin.

Sergei Ponomarev is a soloist at the “Blockade Cello” project. Together with it, he has performed at the State Academic Capella, the Museum of Music at Sheremetievsky Palace and the Mariinsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg. He has also performed as part of various projects by the Saint Petersburg House of Music: “Russian National Music Team” (Tolyatti), “Evenings at the English Hall” (Saint Petersburg) and “Embassy of Mastery” (Ulan-Bator, Mongolia). He has also appeared at such concert halls as the Tatarstan State Philharmonic, the Saydashev State Big Concert Hall, the Grand Hall of the Tchaikovsky Moscow State Conservatory, the Kaliningrad Cathedral, and the Akhmetov Bashkir State Philharmonic Society.

Sergei Ponomarev is a laureate of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science award given to young talents. He also received a scholarship from the Tatarstan Ministry of Culture and the special scholarship from the President of Tatarstan.
