On May 9 in the morning, we are going to publish the recording of “Requiem”, a performance set to Alexey Syumak’s music by Kirill Serebrennikov and conducted by Teodor Currentzis. The symphonic act has only been presented once: that happened 10 years ago at the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre.
“The theatrical “Requiem” is our memory and our pain which accompany us through the years. Conceived in the conflux of music and theatre, the Requiem is an attempt to contemplate the phenomenon of war as tragedy.”

The Requiem libretto is created with the use of text from the Gospel of Luke, fragments of orthodox liturgical poetry along with poems by Anna Oreshnikova, Agniya Barto, Wystan Hugh Auden, Soh Sakon and a fragment of Euripides’ Medea.
