Sonatas for violin and piano
In anticipation of the concert with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony performed by the musicAeterna orchestra and choir and conducted by Theodor Currentzis, a chamber concert with Beethoven’s sonatas for violin and piano will be held as part of the musicAeterna Residency. These masterpieces of chamber and instrumental music of the 19th century could be viewed as a kind of creative laboratory of the composer, who was not only a virtuoso pianist, but also a good violinist.
Selected sonatas for violin and piano by Ludwig van Beethoven will be performed by an outstanding German-Russian duo. The bright soloists of the forty-year-old generation, violinist Isabelle Faust and pianist Alexander Melnikov, have been regularly playing chamber music together for a long time. The musicians often return to Beethoven’s masterpieces at the world’s largest concert venues, make further discoveries, find new sources for inspiration and creative dialogue.
