This concert season has had fewer performances than we had hoped, yet there is always some good news.
Gramophone, one of the world’s leading music magazines, has revealed the nominees for Gramophone Classical Music Awards today. Those are ten orchestras from all around the world, ranging from the USA to Japan. Russia is presented by the musicAeterna orchestra directed by Teodor Currentzis.
The award’s shortlist was suggested by critics and editors. The list is comprised of orchestras that have released “magnificent and often thought-provoking new albums” over the past 12 months. The winner will be determined by the poll at gramophone.co.uk/awards.
We will be eternally grateful if you vote for us. You can place your vote till September 7. The winner of the “Orchestra of the Year” award will be announced on October 6 at the Gramophone Classical Music Awards ceremony.
In the meantime, we suggest that you listen to and share the playlist of musicAeterna’s best recordings, which has been prepared by Gramophone editors for the occasion.
The playlist also includes our latest recording: Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. The digital release by Sony Classical happened in early April; now is the time for the good old CD. Since June 12, the CD can be purchased in music shops worldwide.
