Adagietto. Mahler: Symphony 5

On May 18, 1911, Gustav Mahler passed away. He had lived for exactly 50 years. Before the premiere of his Symphony No.5 in 1904, Mahler wrote: “Oh, I wish I could play my symphonies 50 years after my death!”. Today, Mahler’s music is still with us: it grants us inspiration, consolation and the light of hope.

We commemorate Gustav Mahler with the recording of the Adagietto from Symphony No.5, which was performed by musicAeterna and Teodor Currentzis at the San Michele cemetery in May 2017.

We thank V-A-C Foundation and Teatro Goldoni for assistance in production of this film.
