Chamber music by Johannes Brahms

A new monographic programme by musicAeterna soloists is dedicated to Johannes Brahms’ chamber music. On May 15 at Dom Radio, they will perform his Violin Sonata No. 3, Scherzo for Violin and Piano, and Trio in B Major. For Brahms, chamber music was an integral part of both his artistic and social life.

From an early age, he was surrounded by chamber musicians, professionals and amateurs; at the age of ten he had already played chamber works by Mozart and Beethoven at a private concert organized by his father, and at some periods of his life chamber music was his main “voice”, genuine and personal. Brahms’ vast number of masterpieces for instrumental ensembles captures the spiritual and emotional life of his era, so it is difficult to resist the opportunity to feel the air of the romantic 19th century, and why should one?
