Program

Lecture 1: Introduction to the Cycle. Cinematography and Vision. Perspectivism and its Negation. Light-Eye-Camera.

Both vision and cinematography consist of light, motion, and time. To what extent does this affinity (between biology and technology) allow us to liken the human eye to a movie camera? What is reality in this comparison, and what is a metaphor?

Details

A new lecture cycle The History of the Eye by a film critic Evgeny Maisel is dedicated to the movie camera as a metaphor of vision and explores avant-garde cinema experiments as attempts to reproduce various acts of vision more appropriate to human nature than the perspectivism rooted in conventional (commercial) cinema.

The cycle consists of seven lectures which will take place at Dom Radio once a month.
