Program

Lecture 2: Vision and the Avant-garde Cult of Vision

The likening of movie images to the reality of vision — what consequences does it lead to? The influence of one-point perspective on the conventions of creating images in the Modern age. The concept of vision and the establishment of a ‘world map’.

Details

A new lecture cycle The History of the Eye by a film critic Evgeny Maisel is dedicated to the movie camera as a metaphor of vision and explores avant-garde cinema experiments as attempts to reproduce various acts of vision more appropriate to human nature than the perspectivism rooted in conventional (commercial) cinema.

The cycle consists of seven lectures which will take place at Dom Radio once a month.
