The main characters, a scientist and his assistant, create an elixir for the resurrection of the dead, while officials search for the Carpenter capable of turning water into oil. Thus Russian cosmism and alchemical utopia meet in a mythical space.
The director says, it is ‘a film about the revolution of the human spirit arising in the realm of absolute infinity, in Russia, at the intersection of two vectors — horizontal space (the horizon) and vertical space (a volitional overcoming of gravity)’.
