Details

The new programme of the musicAeterna Choir represents a short anthology of Russian sacred music in the 20th century. A special attention is paid to the works of the 1970s and 1990s, when the heyday of the second wave of the avant-garde coincided with the revival of widespread interest in religion and unofficial spiritual practices. The concert features works by nine very distinct composers: from Stravinsky, whose spiritual choruses were first performed in the USSR during the Thaw era, to Karetnikov and Knaifel; from pieces inspired by Bach and Monteverdi by Schnittke and Pärt to canonical church hymns by deacon Sergei Trubachev.
