Details

The musicAeterna soloists, choir, and orchestra conducted by Teodor Currentzis will perform Requiem by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, one of the pinnacles of Mozart’s legacy that has become self-sufficient ‘world culture luminary’, whose influence on ‘apprentices’ and ‘progenies’ has not waned for several centuries. The Requiem with the mythology formed around the circumstances of its creation has reached far beyond music as an art form and become the soil that generates new masterpieces of literature, painting, music, and cinematography – from Alexander Pushkin’s ‘little tragedy’ Mozart and Salieri to Miloš Forman’s film Amadeus.

Mozart’s Requiem performed by the musicAeterna soloists, Choir and Orchestra will be preceded by an Introduction designed to immerse the famous masterpiece in an unexpected context and give the secular concert a deeper spiritual dimension. The musicAeterna Byzantina Choir and the soloist Adrian Sîrbu will perform several early Byzantine chants, including those heard at funeral services.
