At the Dom Radio Cinema Laboratory, we will watch a 2017 short film The Wolf and the Seven Kids, shot by Elena Gutkina and Genrikh Ignatov, a duo graduated from Artur Aristakisyan’s laboratory at the Moscow School of New Cinema.
A father and his autistic son live in a small cottage near the forest. Through years of mutual patience and discontent, laden with fatigue and irritation, they move in a circle of ritualized, claustrophobic love.
Katerina Beloglazova, “Seance”:
“The documentary material, captured as if by a camera forgotten in the heroes’ home, serves to a specific director’s view, intimate and corresponding to the painful isolation of the protagonists’ world. While the authors themselves are hidden, their presence is palpable in the rhythmic organization of the film.”
