Olga Sedakova is a philologist, poet, translator, and author of over 60 books. Her interests include the history of Russian and Old Slavonic languages, traditional culture and mythology, liturgical poetry, general hermeneutics of the poetic text, and literature ranging from St Francis of Assisi and John Donne to Ezra Pound and Paul Celan.

Olga Sedakova is currently working on a non-poetic translation of Dante’s Divine Comedy as close to the original as possible. At a lecture included in the series of events to mark the 700th anniversary of Dante’s death at Dom Radio, she will talk about the challenges and subtleties of translating Dante and the richness and strangeness of the language of the great text.
