Details
On May 10, two piano sonatas composed half a century apart in Germany will be performed at Dom Radio. One was written in Dresden, the other in Düsseldorf. One is dedicated to Robert Schumann, the other inherits his tradition. Both composers were young and eager to gain insight into the depths of the universe. Both sonatas will be played by Yury Martynov, a unique musician who mastered not only the piano but all the keyboard instruments from harpsichord to organ. One sonata was written by Johannes Brahms, the other by Sergei Rachmaninoff. And both pieces are truly beautiful.
